In 1826, in a little Hungarian hillside village called Herend, there opened a manufactory the traditional art of hand-painted porcelain of which has remained to this day, making it one of the most important porcelain centers in the world.
Ever since the 1851 World Exhibition in London, Herend started
to succeed internationally. Its rich classical repertoire includes an extensive
variety of dining wares. All of these are of the highest artistic standard and
are technically perfect because the Herend Manufactory houses one of the world’s
largest hand painting ateliers. The artists and trained craftsmen are pioneers
of technical innovation, and the ideas born in the studios contribute considerably
to the development of porcelain culture in general, which maybe small in scope
but has great significance for the quality of our lives.
